It is known as a Lady's Chest, and would have been used to hold items of value, cosmetics, jewellery etc. The cabinet is crafted from elm and a mixture of softwoods, and it holds 4 drawers, 2 hidden drawers and a main cupboard in the centre. The hand carved detailing shows mostly yellow flowers which, in Chinese culture, symbolise prosperity and good fortune. This piece
