The locomotive is finished in early 1960s condition as allocated to 30A Stratford and during its glory days of passenger service on the Great Eastern main line and in charge of such iconic workings as the Liverpool-Harwich boat trains

it was renumbered 37256 two years later and remained on the WR at Bristol Bath Road from 1983 until rebuilt by Crewe as 37678 in 1987
